Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is constantly on his mind as he rallies support for the President in Rivers State.
Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor urged residents to support Tinubu, citing appointments of Rivers indigenes and what he described as developmental projects by the Federal Government in the state.
Wike said he thinks about Tinubu’s re-election even when sleeping and eating, adding that his current activities are focused on securing a second term for the President.
He also said he believed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign would be easier than the President’s 2023 bid and urged Rivers residents to set aside political sentiments and support him.
The FCT minister criticised opposition figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and Peter Obi, questioning their prospects in the state ahead of the 2027 election.
Wike also urged his supporters and political allies in Rivers to avoid internal disputes and communal disagreements, saying such distractions could affect their political activities ahead of the election.
His comments come as political parties and their candidates intensify mobilisation and preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
