A Nigerian Christian clergy, Pastor Yohanna Buru has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Malam Nafiu Baba-Ahmad on October 8, 2026..
Accompanied by Reverend Rawland Sanda Peter, Pastor Buru described Malam Nafi’u’s death as a great loss to the family, the Muslim community and Nigeria at large.
He also sympathised with the colleagues and associates of the late Islamic scholar.
Speaking during the visit, Pastor Buru, a United Nations Peace Ambassador, said he was deeply saddened by the death of Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed, whom he described as a respected religious leader, lawyer, scholar and administrator who dedicated his life to promoting peace, unity, justice and understanding.
“We came to condole with the entire family over the death of Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed.
He added that his passing away is a painful loss, not only to his family but also to the Muslim Ummah and the nation at large,” Pastor Buru said.
He also noted that Baba-Ahmed’s death had come at a time when Nigeria needed more voices committed to promoting peace, religious understanding, justice and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
According to him, the late Baba-Ahmed made valuable contributions to religious and national affairs and would be remembered for his dedication and service.
Pastor Buru prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him eternal rest and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for Allah to give the family, relatives, colleagues and the wider Muslim community the strength, patience and comfort to bear the loss.
Responding, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, brother of the deceased, thanked Pastor Yohanna Buru for taking the time to visit and condole with the family during their difficult moment.
During the condolence visit, Pastor Buru also exchanged greetings with Dr. Usman Bugaji, Professor Auwal Abdulsalam of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, and other prominent Islamic scholars who were present at the residence of the late Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed.
The visit further demonstrated mutual respect and solidarity during moments of grief and loss.
