Punch reported that APC governorship candidate Ahmed Galadima welcomed the defections in a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Adamu Sambo.
Galadima described the development as a significant gain for the APC in Adamawa, congratulating the defectors and saying their decision reflected their understanding of the state’s changing political landscape.
He said their move to the APC demonstrated political foresight and recognition of the importance of unity and purposeful leadership in advancing the state’s development.
The APC governorship candidate also commended Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for what he described as an inclusive leadership style and efforts to build relationships across political divides.
Galadima linked the defections to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, arguing that the movement of political leaders into the APC could strengthen the party’s influence at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He added that the development presented an opportunity to improve cooperation among political leaders, strengthen governance and focus on the needs of Adamawa residents.
The reported defections come as political parties intensify efforts to expand their support bases across states and local government areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
