A frontline politician and an ex-gubernatorial aspirant in Adamawa state, north-eastern Nigeria, Dr Umar Ardo has claimed that the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has been wrongfully registered and vowed to challenge it in the court of law.
Dr Ardo, who spoke exclusively with DCL English, claimed that NDC did not apply to the Independent National Electoral Commission in a formal manner.
He said INEC refused NDC’s application for registration on account that its logo resembled that of APC and other political associations.
The politician further explained that when INEC refused a political party’s application for registration, it should go to court within fourteen days, adding that NDC did not go to court within the stipulated time allowed by the law.
Dr Ardo, who said he was not a member of NDC, expressed concern that the development would affect the country’s democracy, accusing Tinubu’s government oof favouring the NDC in order to divide the opposition.
