National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has descried recent attempts by a group to create factions within the party.
Daily Trust, a Nigerian national daily, reports that the group led by Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu,described the last national convention of the party as a “sham” and accused a certain a rival group of attempting to hijack the party for elite interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While reacting, the PRP chairman said as far as the convention that produced his leadership concerned, it was faultless.
On the allegations that he is not a member of the PRP, Baba-Ahmed said he joined the PRP more than 10 years ago and was the person who conducted the primary elections that produced the last presidential candidate of the PRP in Kano.
On whether there was a crisis within the party, the national chairman recalled there was a case between PRP and the former chairman, PRP and 12 others but said the case was determined in the former chairman’s favour on the 31st of august 2022.
